Abbreviations and Spellings
Throughout the volume, we favour Hellenised spellings of names of people and places, employing Latinised versions only for the most familiar names, where confusion would be created by using a Hellenised name, and for locations in Italy. All ancient dates cited are BCE unless otherwise indicated.
