Abstract

In this chapter, the author analyzes the peculiarities of Mamardashvili’s approach to consciousness, namely his approach to the principal non-objectifiability and supernaturalness of consciousness. The third part offers an analysis of some of Mamardashvili’s ideas about the “invisible” and “unknown” nature of consciousness, or “non-objectivity, which refers to the idea that consciousness is fundamentally unobjectifiable. By non-objectivity, Mamardashvili has in mind not only the non-physicality of consciousness, but also the logical impossibility of positively grasping consciousness in terms of standard subject-object definitions.
