A Note on Transliteration
As the book relies heavily on Persian-language and Arabic sources, I have used the transliteration system as recommended by IJMES for the sake of maximum consistency at the cost of sacrificing the Persian pronunciation of various terms. In few cases of well-known persons e.g. Khomeini, Khamenei, Mojtahed-Shabestari as well as in the case of few geographic places the common English form has been used.
The following letters have been used for the Arabic and Persian letters
| ʾ | Arabic and Persian hamza |
