Abstract

In this chapter, I engage with one of the questions posed by the editors of this book: Why are we not more inclusive? To answer this question, it is imperative that scholars, activists, parents, students, and practitioners engage in a critical examination of actual existing neoliberalism and its global and local influence in the deployment of an inclusive education agenda. To contribute to this examination, I draw from current international research on inclusive education to advance a framework I called neoliberal selective inclusionism. I organize this framework around the three dimensions of justice that have been at the core of the inclusive education movement: redistribution, recognition, and representation.
