For some time now, an increase of new service claims depending on societal demands can be observed in art. On the one hand, some contemporary art is oriented towards the art market in the sense of new commissioned art and decorative art; on the other hand, demands are made on art from a viewpoint articulated from various political camps, whose diverse political and ethical-moral normativisations do not only raise the problem of splitting the art business, but above all, also that of obstructing the necessary further development of art in the sense of its autonomy. What consequences do the shifts observed here have on art education at school and university? Using selected examples, I would like to discuss how to deal with such challenges and make suggestions for a relaxed approach to the problem described.
