Dr Hawkins was a primary school teacher for 35 years before her PhD studies under Barbara Yorke. Her other academic interests lie in the acquisition and development of syntax in young children.

Emeritus Professor in Medieval History at the University of Winchester. Until his retirement in 2014 he was Head of the Department of History.
N.J. Higham
Emeritus Professor of the University of Manchester, following his retirement in 2011 from his post as Professor of Early Medieval and Landscape History in the Department of History, University of Manchester.
Robert Higham
Honorary University Fellow, Exeter University. Dr Higham taught medieval archaeology at Exeter University for almost thirty years and is now retired. He has continued to lecture, research and publish in various fields, including British urban studies and castle studies.

Dame Janet Nelson
Emeritus Professor of Medieval History at King’s College London. She served as Vice-President of the British Academy from 1999-2001 and was President of the Royal Historical Society from 2000 to 2004.
David A.E. Pelteret
Dr Pelteret is the author of Slavery in Early Mediaeval England and a range of papers on Anglo-Saxon topics. Currently he is working on textual editions for the British Academy and the Henry Bradshaw Society.
Jonathan Pitt
Dr Pitt studied at the Universities of Oxford and Leicester, as well as at King Alfred’s College. He completed his PhD on the minster parishes of Wiltshire in 1999 under the supervision of Barbara Yorke. He is currently a civil servant.
Andrew Reynolds
Professor of Medieval Archaeology at the Institute of Archaeology, UCL. His research focusses on the archaeology and history of social complexity in Anglo-Saxon England, with a particular focus on the spatial organisation of power.
Emeritus Professor in History at the University of Winchester. He was Head of the History Department for many years, subsequently serving as Head of Research, then as Director of International Relations, before retiring in 2010.
