This last chapter enquires into the typologies established in the New-Testament part of the Cento. On one level, the text features reenactments of biblical typologies with Old-Testament ‘types’ prefiguring New-Testament ‘antitypes.’ But it also displays semi-biblical typologies, meaning that characters and events from the Virgilian ‘hypotext’ prefigure the biblical ones represented in the Cento. These connections are heavily exploited in order to produce foreshadowing within the narrative. It also explores the destabilization of gender that permeates the Cento.
