Volume 42 of the Chinese (Taiwan) Yearbook of International Law and Affairs presents scholarly reflections, writings, and selected materials on the state practice of the Republic of China (ROC) on Taiwan in 2024.
Dr. C.V. Chen (陳長文), a member of the Yearbook’s advisory board, authored the opening article on the groundbreaking 1990 Kinmen Accord between Taiwan and Mainland China. Negotiated by the Red Cross Societies on both sides, the accord aimed to address the repatriation of individuals who had illegally crossed the Taiwan Strait. As a key negotiator in his capacity as Secretary-General of the Red Cross Society of the ROC, Dr. Chen shares his insights into the accord and its implications for cross-strait relations.
This volume also features the Symposium on Green Regionalism in the New World Order, co-organized by Professor Armin Cuyvers of Leiden University in the Nethelands and Professor Pasha L. Hsieh (謝笠天) of Singapore Management University. Supported by grants from the Taiwan Studies Project and the Singapore Ministry of Education, this interdisciplinary symposium brings together essays by legal and international relations scholars exploring the emerging concept of green regionalism.
Following the introduction by Professors Cuyvers and Hsieh, the symposium includes contributions by Daniëlla Dam-de Jong (Leiden University), Wei-hao Huang (黃韋豪) (National Sun Yat-sen University in Taiwan), Chien-shih Huang (黃建實) (National Taiwan University), Rachel Phang (SMU), Suhailah Akbari (Takhar University), Teerawat Wongkaew (Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Thailand), Howard Jyun-Syun Li (李濬勳) (Soochow University), Nguyen Thi Lan Huong (Ho Chi Minh City University of Law), Nguyen Hoang Thai Hy (Ho Chi Minh City University of Law), Tran Thi Thuan Giang (Ho Chi Minh City University of Law), Jiun-Da Lin (林竣達) (National Taiwan University), Scott Y. Lin (林義鈞) (National Chengchi University), and Fang Meng Mandy (City University of Hong Kong).
