This volume is a further continuation of the annotated bibliographies on the writings and thought of the Jewish exegete and philosopher Philo of Alexandria prepared by Roberto Radice and David Runia for the years 1937â1986 published in 1988 and by David Runia for the years 1987â1996 published in 2000. Prepared with the collaboration of the International Philo Bibliography Project, it contains a complete listing of all scholarly writings on Philo for the period 1997 to 2006. Part One lists texts, translations, commentaries etc. (58 items). Part Two contains critical studies (1024 items). In part Three additional works for the years 1987â1996 are presented (42 items). In all cases a brief description of the contents of the contribution is given. Seven indices, including a detailed Index of subjects, complete the work.
David T Runia is Master of Queenâs College and Professorial Fellow in the School of Historical and Philosophical Studies at the University of Melbourne. He has published extensively on the writings and thought of Philo of Alexandria, and has been editor of The Studia Philonica Annual since 1989.
"This volume continues the excellent work of the International Philo Project. [...] for specialists in different fields [...] well-edited bibliographies are an indispensible resource, and this is a particularly fine series of its kind due to both the arrangement of material and the quality of its content. The quality of the contributions lies in their lucidity and concision; the commitment to accuracy and accountability; and the growing emphasis on breadth. [...] this book is now available electronically as a searchable PDF, via Brill Online in Open Access!" â Jane Heath, Durham University, in: The Expository Times 125(3) (2013)
â Jutta Leonhardt-Balzer, Aberdeen, in: Theologische Literaturzeitung 138 (2013), 6
