Acknowledgments
An edited volume of essays like this is the fruit of collaborative endeavour and a test of patience and dedication. As editors of this project, we thank all the twenty excellent contributors for their support. All these scholars, from different parts of the world, have made time out of their busy schedules in writing the chapters, in responding to every query and suggestion of the peer-reviewers and the editors with utmost sincerity. Their spirited cooperation during the rather long editing process deserves appreciation.
We treasure our association with Amitav Ghosh and express our sincere gratitude for his kind support and the interview on Gun Island (2019) for which he extracted time from his tight schedule. We thank Professor John Thieme of the University of East Anglia for his affection to the editors and the generous âForewordâ which has undoubtedly added dimension to this project.
We thank all esteemed peer-reviewers, who are eminent scholars on Amitav Ghoshâs literary oeuvre. We are thankful to Dr Daria Tunca of the University of Liège (Belgium), Dr Chaitali Basu of Vidyasagar College for Women (India), Dr Maitrayee Misra of Guru Ghasidas Vishwavidyalaya (India), and Professor Jopi Nyman of the University of Eastern Finland. Their suggestions and support have acted well at specific points. We also must acknowledge our debt to Christa Stevens, the Acquisitions Editor of the Literature and Cultural Studies of Brill for her patience, her continuous support and encouragement.
Finally, we thank our families and friends, whose words acted as inspirations from the very beginning of this project and particularly during the trying time of the global pandemic. We are indebted to everyone to whom we owe a single word of inspiration.
