The Yezidis of the South Caucasus

Their Past and Present in Georgia

Series:

This is the first monograph dedicated to the Yezidi diaspora in the South Caucasus, focusing on Yezidis living in Georgia, where the first Yezidi organisation was established, the Constitution was written, the International Yezidi Theological Academy was founded, and the Yezidi Akhtiarat was proclaimed. The monograph explores the history of their migration, religion, customs, daily life, literature, media, institutions, and relations with other Yezidis, Kurds, and Georgians, based on the author’s fieldwork in Georgia, Armenia, Turkey, and Iraq, and on unique sources. It is richly illustrated with numerous photographs of Yezidi rituals, sacred objects, documents, and maps.
