In September 2000 the fourth World Potato Congress (WPC)took place in The Netherlands, one of the world's smaller countries although certainly not small in potatoes. The aim of the Congress was not only to provide information on a wide variety of potato-related issues, but more ultimately to bridge the gap between science and practice (cultivation, industry, research and trade). Contributors from all parts of the world give their view on the different aspects of the complete potato chain, from pre-basic material up to potato processing. The proceedings include a WEB-enabled CD ROM. This CD ROM gives the opportunity to download the latest information of the World Potato Congress from the Internet and to visit relevant research institutes and companies.
