The risk of poverty in Germany has risen in recent years to its highest level since the German reunification.
Statistically, the division of society is increasing. The resulting fear among parts of the population to slip into poverty is encouraging populism in Germany. But what does a look at poverty in Germany reveal beyond purely statistical data? Where are the actual poverty situations and how are they effectively combated? How can poverty reduction and prevention be improved?
This volume deals with the complex problem of poverty and social justice in Germany and analyses proposals for solutions and ways of achieving more social justice from the perspective of various scientific disciplines. In particular, solutions to overcome poverty in old age and the poverty risk of families are discussed.
