Abstract
This article uncovers an underestimated Hegelian legacy in Beauvoirâs method of analysis, which is âconcreteâ not only experientially but also logically, because of its dialectical concept formation. It traces the conceptual movement from abstract to concrete in The Second Sex by identifying three determinations of âwoman,â culminating in the figure of the mermaid, an expression of the inner contradiction of sexed existence. Consequently, Beauvoir is recognized as a thinker of immanent critique, pointing towards a politics of emancipation rather than equality.

Cet article dévoile un héritage hégélien insoupçonné de la méthode dâanalyse de Beauvoir dans Le Deuxième Sexe: cette méthode est « concrète » non seulement parce quâelle est expérientielle, mais également parce que ses concepts sont formés de manière dialectique. Lâarticle retrace ainsi un mouvement conceptuel de lâabstrait au concret et identifie trois déterminations de la « femme ». Ce mouvement culmine dans la figure de la sirène, laquelle exprime la contradiction interne de lâexistence sexuée. Beauvoir sâavère ainsi une philosophe de la critique immanente: elle oriente vers une politique dâémancipation plutôt que dâégalité.
