The author describes the qualitative methodology used by himself, Professor J S Krüger and Mr M S (Victor) Molobi in a research project on the religious spectrum of the city of Pretoria. The planning, data-gathering and data-processing stages of the project are discussed. The article describes the problems encountered during the project and how these were resolved by the research team.
