Abstract

"Paneconomism," which the author defines as "the all-encompasing priority given today in all parts of the globe to economic considerations," presents a major challenge to missiology. Because of an all-pervading market perspective, an obsession with financial feasibility and the negative impact of globalization, economic rather than human values seem to be driving political and social decisions. Witness that engages this situation with the vision of the gospel should form the "cutting edge" of missiological reflection and ecclesial practice. The author pleads for a "competent, well-informed contribution by missiologists on economic issues."
