The focus is to work out its becoming, structure, functionality and importance as well as lines of knowledge of empirical reappraisal. First, the history and the context of the emergence are examined in order to capture the microcosm of the archives in a phenomenological insightful way. Subsequently, the discoverable archival collections will be subjected to a categorization of their parts. The summarizing notes emphasize that mosques and their archives are Germany’s historical and cultural heritage that need to be researched in its depth and breadth.
