Abstract
This article presents data partially validating theological and psychological perspectives on the coping process presented in this journal by Vossen (1993). Results of interviews and testing of 79 octogenarian and nonagenarian women are reported. Vossen's theodicy models of Retaliation, Plan, and Compassion were assigned to the elderly women, based on their free responses about their views on human suffering. This variable was then explored for common variance with a set of psychosocial and psycho-theological variables related to coping.
