We examined morphological, external, cranial, and karyological characters of 78 specimens belonging to the genus Microtus from Southeastern Turkey (Maraş, Kilis, Gaziantep, and Hatay). M. guentheri has a karyotype of 2n = 54, while M. irani has 2n = 46. Karyotype and dorsal coloration are diagnostic characters distinguishing M. guentheri from M. irani. We found no evidence for the existence of M. socialis in Southeastern Turkey.
