The food composition of Tristramella sacra (Günther, 1864) in Lake Kinneret was studied. The gut contents of 126 specimens collected from all parts of the lake throughout a full year cycle were analyzed. It was found that organic detritus, zooplankton and phytoplankton are the major food sources. Seasonal changes of food composition and trophic adaptation of T. sacra to the conditions prevailing in the lake as well as the status of this fish in the Kinneret ecosystem are considered.
