The taxonomy of the dorcas gazelles (Gazella dorcas) is reviewed and analysed by different techniques. G. d. isabella and G. d. litloralis emerge as closely related and are grouped together as G. d. isabella. The two different forms of pelzelni from Danakil and from Berbera are grouped together in G. dorcas pelzelni. Since the gazelles from the southeastern Sahara (e.g., Darfour and Kordofan) emerge as similar to those from the central (e.g., Hoggar, Tademait) and northern (e.g., Egypt) areas, I classify all these forms under the subspecies dorcas. The two forms from the Arabian Peninsula come out in our analysis as distinct from each other, G. gazella arabica being closely related to G. d. isabella, and G. d. saudiya to the population from Río de Oro. Finally, the latter population is here considered as belonging to the subspecies neglecta.
