Three cyathostome species were identified from the helminthological collections of the Hebrew University of Jerusalem. One of these was a new species for which the name Syngamus (Cyathostoma) turemuratovi is proposed. The classification of the nematode family Syngamidae is reviewed and it is proposed to recognise only one valid genus, namely, genus Syngamus, which divides into four subgenera: Syngamus, Mammomonogamus, Hovorkinema and Cyathostoma. New keys to the identification of the species are provided.
