The scorpion Compsobuthus acutecarinatus E. Sin. hibernates solitarily under stones, on slopes and hilltops of the Negev, while Compsobuthus schmiedeknichti Vachon is found in aggregations of up to 23 specimens under stones near riverbeds in the Mediterranean areas of Israel. The problem of aggregation in scorpionids, a rare phenomenon, is briefly discussed.
