The fauna of Ostracoda in Lake Tiberias comprises seven identified species. Three of these are new: Loxoconcha galilea n. sp., Ilyocypris hartmanni n. sp. and Ilyocypris nitida n. sp. Loxoconcha is apparently a marine relic. Most of the other species belong to fresh-water genera. The Ostracoda mainly inhabit the littoral and sublittoral zone of the Lake. The epiprofundal and profundal are relatively poor. The richest population is found to be concentrated in the southern part of the Lake. The populations show a clear spring peak which gradually diminishes towards summer.
