The external morphology and colour pattern of five specimens of Solenostomus cyanopterus Blecker, collected in the Gulf of Akaba is described. The behaviour of those specimens in their natural habitat, the littoral of Elat, as well as in captivity is discussed. Special attention has been given to the observation and description of the various activities of the specimens, the reproduction and development of the larvae.
