Many cases of appendicular regeneration in various scorpion nymphs have been studied. It was found that scorpions retain their regeneration potentialities to the last nymphal stage, i.e. as long as they retain their moulting potentiality. Nymphs which had suffered loss of various segments of a walking appendage, regenerated a pretarsus alone. However, when the loss involved more than just a pretarsus, regeneration always affected also the distal part of the segment preceding the newly formed pretarsus. No case has yet been found in which the regenerate subsequently dissociated into additional segments. The regenerate is at first always smaller than normal, but may acquire full size during subsequent stages.
