Abstract

The article presents a brief biographical note on Richard Theremin—a Russian military officer, diplomat, and orientalist, and his “Report on the Clashes on the Persian–Turkish Border”, written in 1907 during his tenure as Russian vice-consul in Van. This document is a valuable historical source, offering first-hand insight into the dynamics of the Persian–Turkish frontier in the early twentieth century, as well as into the broader realities of the period—including the nuances of regional players’ policies, interethnic relations in the area and other relevant details.
