This article discusses the Grimmelshausen bibliography of Italo Michele Battafarano and Hildegard Eilert (2012), which represents the culmination of almost fourty years of work on Grimmelshausen and the editions of his works. Starting from information given there about the owners of editions of Simplicissimus and related works, the author then draws on additional sources to arrive at a deeper understanding of Grimmelshausen’s historical readership.
