Donald Trumpâs previous administration, defined by transactional foreign policy, disrupted diplomatic norms and created vacuums in USâAfrica relations. This paper explores the shifting alliances that are reshaping Africaâs geopolitical landscape following his return to the White House and the growing influence of China and Russia. It examines how Trumpâs policies could accelerate Africaâs pivot towards Eurasian powers that offer it alternative partnerships. Chinaâs Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) and Russiaâs expanding military ties in Africa illustrate a deepening EurasiaâAfrica engagement which challenges the traditional dominance of Western powers. Adopting a qualitative research approach, and relying on secondary sources such as policy briefs, Trumpâs executive orders and his distinctive social media use, the study employs a thematic analysis framework to trace recurring narratives between 2016 and 2025. The paper finds that Africa is navigating a multipolar competition and recommends that African states strengthen regional integration and pursue strategic diversification in an increasingly unpredictable international system.
