Acknowledgments
The United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea, Part XI Regime and the International Seabed Authority: A Twenty-Five Year Journey is a sui generis publication to commemorate twenty-five years of existence as well as achievements of the International Seabed Authority. The volume is based on presentations made at the 25th Anniversary Conference which held 14–16 November 2019 in Kingston, Jamaica. The Conference was co-sponsored by the Centre for Oceans Law and Policy (COLP), University of Virginia School of Law. Additional sponsors were the World Maritime University–Sasakwa Global Ocean Institute, the Institute for China-America Studies, the Centre for International Law of the National University of Singapore, and the Korea Maritime Institute. Local administrative support for the Conference was provided by the staff of the International Seabed Authority.
A special acknowledgement and gratitude go to Ms. Talatu Akindolire, Legal Officer at the Secretariat of the International Seabed Authority and Ms. Judy Ellis of COLP for their tireless work in facilitating the preparation of this volume of collected essays. We are also grateful to Marie Sheldon, Law publishing Director at Brill and Kelley Baylis, Assistant Editor, as well as other staff at Brill for their kind assistance and professionalism in bringing this book to fruition.
