Acknowledgements
The inspiration for this book was born during a colloquium devoted to the achievements of the PoznaÅ School of Legal Theory and a conference related to the achievements of CzesÅaw Znamierowski, held in June 2016 and May 2019, respectively, at the Faculty of Law and Administration of the Adam Mickiewicz University in PoznaÅ, Poland. The original intention was that these events were to be devoted to Zygmunt ZiembinÌski and CzesÅaw Znamierowski, but as the events unfolded it became apparent that the achievements of the PoznaÅ School in the field of legal theory continue to have great relevance for present-day circumstances.
We were fortunate that this work received financial and institutional support from the Ministry of Higher Education and Science within the NPRH research project, from the Faculty of Law and Administration of the Adam Mickiewicz University in PoznaÅ, and from Rector of Adam Mickiewicz University, Professor Andrzej Lesicki. In particular, we would like to thank all the people who worked on the final shape of the book, especially Stephen Dersley, Maciej Dybowski, Agnieszka ChodunÌ, MikoÅaj Hermann, Marzena Kordela, MichaÅ KrotoszynÌski and PaweÅ Kokot, who prepared the texts of the deceased authors whose works are included in this publication. The articles, essays, fragments and chapters gathered together in this anthology were originally published in Polish, in various university journals and publications. All the works have been reviewed, following a standard review procedure. In addition, we would like to stress that the monograph editors received permissions from the heirs of the authors who are no longer with us.
