Abstract

In economics, the competitive relationship between industrial enterprises, corporate competitiveness, earning performance, and corporate profits is a complicated one, marked by close relationships on the one hand and wide differences on the other. In an industry which is already sufficiently competitive or which is working towards becoming more competitive, earning capacity can to a large extent reflect corporate competitiveness. Two basic judgments must be made when studying the relationship between earnings and corporate competitiveness, or in any attempt to analyse corporate composition through earning performance. The first regards the business earning performance: if earning performance figures are fine, can these be sustained? The second is whether the business earnings are obtained under competitive conditions. If there is sufficient competition, the business earning capacity is determined to be highly correlated with corporate competitiveness; if there is insufficient competition, the business earning capacity is unrelated to its corporate competitiveness.
