As the editor of this volume, I am extremely indebted to each of the authors who worked tirelessly to make this work possible. Their patience and care in working on these chapters made the entire experience worthwhile, and I believe they deserve all the praise for putting this together. To Jamie, Marty, Ransford, Bill, Xuan, Kim, and Ron: thank you for entrusting me with your work.
I am also tremendously grateful to the series editor at Brill, David Fasenfest. David was generous and kind with his time, and always supportive and willing to offer guidance to complete the project.
For the past 13 years I have had the honor of serving as the Managing Editor of the academic journal Class, Race and Corporate Power hosted by Florida International University. Helping run this journal under the tutelage of Dr. Ronald W. Cox has been so meaningful to my growth both personally and professionally. I cannot thank him enough for all his mentoring over the past two decades.
My colleagues in the Department of Humanities and Politics at Nova Southeastern University have also been a constant source of friendship and inspiration, and I am so grateful to have had the opportunity to work alongside all of you for the past 15 years.
I would not be writing this if it had not been for the unceasing support of my mother, father, and sister. The older I grow the more I realize how fortunate I am to be part of such a loving family.
I am also unbelievably lucky to have the love of my life at my side. I could not have done this without my amazing wife, Aileen.
Finally, I would like to dedicate this work to my late grandmother, Hazel Bass, who always had time to take me to the library and make me bowl after bowl of spaghetti.
