Charles de Sousy Ricketts born in Geneva, Switzerland (2 October), to Cornelia Fausta Felix Pia Adeodata Maddalena Marsuzi de Aguirre (1824–1880) and Charles Robert Ricketts (1838–1883)

1868

Family moves to London in around 1868

Birth of his only sister in London: Blanche Mildmay (1868–1903)

c.1876–1880

CR and his mother live in Boulogne and Asnières, France

1880

Family moves to Italy

Mother dies in Genoa, Italy (30 December)

1881

Family moves back to Great Britain

1883

Father dies on the Isle of Bute, Scotland (29 June)

CR enrols in the wood-engraving class at South London Technical School of Art (16 October).

Meets Charles Shannon (1863–1937)

Lives at 164 Kennington Park Road, Kennington

1885

CR switches to the Life Class (until 1888)

First published drawing appears in The Magazine of Art (January 1886 issue, available in December 1885)
