Acknowledgements
This volume is the result of two conferences held in Lyon as part of the ANR “Peripatos” project (ANR-20-CE27-0002): one in 2022, dedicated specifically to Theophrastus’ physics, and the other in 2024, focusing on Peripatetic physics after Theophrastus, up to Alexander. We extend our gratitude to all the speakers at these conferences, as well as to the institutions that generously funded them: Agence Nationale de la Recherche, Université Jean Moulin Lyon 3, Institut de Recherches Philosophiques de Lyon, Centre Léon Robin (Paris), CAPHI (Rennes), UMR STL (Lille), and UMR Sphere (Paris). We express our heartfelt thanks to all the authors of the contributions gathered below for their collegial cooperation. We are especially grateful to the members of the “Peripatos seminar”, who contributed to the lively discussions during the two conferences: Annick Jaulin, Fabienne Baghdassarian, Claire Louguet, Charlotte Murgier and David Lefebvre. Our warm thanks also go to Chad Jorgenson for his attentive and generous work on the language, which greatly enhanced the quality of the volume.
