Acknowledgements
With any undertaking of this nature there are many people that one wishes to thank. It is certainly not possible to list them all here, although I’ll try my hardest.
Firstly, I’d like to thank Professor Frans von der Dunk for giving me the opportunity to write a monograph for this prestigious series. I am truly honoured to have been allowed to write the first comprehensive work of its kind on the space legislation of my country and I will be forever grateful for having been able to make this contribution to the academic literature within the fascinating and increasingly important discipline of Space Law. I would also like to thank Professor von der Dunk for his time and patience with the editing process, his consistently constructive and helpful feedback and for always being available to me when I required assistance.
Secondly, I would like to give my sincere thanks to Dr Math Noortmann for initially putting me in touch with Professor von der Dunk back in 2021. If it were not for your thoughtful introduction this work may never have been realised. I am eternally grateful to you for this.
Thirdly, I would like to thank my friends and colleagues at Coventry University for their encouragement and support with my early space law work. In particular, I would like to thank Dr Steve Foster for the opportunity to publish my first articles in the Coventry Law Journal. It was through these initial publications that I was able to develop the body of research which would ultimately lead to this work becoming a reality. I would also like to thank Dr Lorenzo Pasculli, now of University College London, for his consistent support and interest in my research, in addition to Dr Gary Betts, Sukhwinder Chhokar, Aaron Cooper, Professor Stephen Hardy, Dr Mahmoud Masud, Dr Stuart MacLennan, Sandrea Maynard, Dr Tony Meacham, and Dr Ben Stanford along with my former colleagues on the SWUPL Team, Dr Lorraine Barron, Simran Basi and Dr Bingdao Wang for all your encouragement and interest during those formative years. I would also like to thank my current friends and colleagues of the School of Law at the University of Dundee along with my students past and present, particularly those I have had the privilege of teaching on the Space Law module at Dundee Law School.
None of our individual achievements exist in a complete vacuum (excuse the pun). Beneath the surface of any accomplishment there are countless people who support every one of us, both directly and indirectly. To this end, I’d also like to give thanks to my mother, Amanda Simmonds (for everything …),
