Abstract

Jesusâ healing ministry is described severally in the scriptures. Matthew 4:23â25 gives a snapshot of Jesusâ compassionate healing ministry. It is surprising, however, that what Jesus did between his birth and his suffering under Pontius Pilate, as recorded in the gospels, is not captured in the creeds. Much of this activity was âJesusâ compassionate healing ministryâ that âbrought hope for the fractured world.â There is, therefore, the need for renewed attention to the ministry of healing. Although âEvery healing witnesses to the coming of the era of endless shalom and wellbeing, â¦ there was nothing âautomatic,â no formulae, no standard prescriptions about Jesusâ healings â¦ because the kingdom has not yet arrived in its fullness!â Until then physicians and faith healers, community developers and pastors labor, missionaries and volunteers labor in the knowledge that Godâs shalom has not yet come and âevery healing, every cure, every raising from the dead is not yet final, only anticipatory, promissory.â
