Evdokia Olympitou was born in 1962. She studied at the University of Athens, where she wrote her PhD thesis titled «
The present volume is her last book published by a group of her friends and loved ones, three years after she passed away. Her family, friends and colleagues were devasted by her sudden death in Corfu on 17 May 2011, at age 49. Evi, as she was known, was an exceptional and charismatic person and an outstanding teacher. As one of her colleagues at the Ionian University wrote: âFor us you were above all a person with a rare ethos, somebody who possessed both an intellectual and innate mental kindness and modesty that characterized all aspects of your personal and professional life. You were distinguished for your broadness of mind, your critical thinking, your deep democratic beliefs, the constant urge to think and always research, examine and compare ⦠Always humane, modest, never indifferent or arrogant, you were open to the concerns and problems of others to carefully listen, understand, sympathize and help.â1
