Abstract

This chapter continues to draw attention to the notion that Africa was âinventedâ through what is considered to be a âsocial constructâ that was essential to the invention. The issues of identity formation and cultural transformation are examined by the author. In light of its particular cultural and historical background and substance, the chapter explores how the continent might succeed in the socio-political and economic world. Africaâs previously bad image is being quickly replaced by a new one, âAfrica on the rise.â Even Africanists who are concerned that the continent has repeatedly been the target of crisis have expressed interest in this re-imagining of Africa, which was primarily motivated by the continentâs experience with growth. More crucially, capitals and financial centers have become more accepting of Africaâs rebranding.
