Index of Persons
Nota Bene 1: Some names have been standardized to follow more widely recognized traditions (for example, Walwein to Gawain, Artur to Arthur, Ganhumara to Guinevere, Eneas to Aeneas) and others include the more well known Latin equivalents (either historical personages or legendary ones, the latter often, but not always, created by Geoffrey of Monmouth) in addition to the forms Wace used, such as Cassibellan (Cassibellanus) and Ebrauc (Ebraucus) or English equivalents Adelstan (Athelstan). If there is an alternative French spelling as well as a Latin one, they will be in parentheses.
Nota Bene 2: Since Geoffrey of Monmouth (and the vulgate Historia Regum Britanniae) appear on nearly every page and the First Variant (FV) appears nearly as often, they have not been indexed here, nor has Arthur who has over 1300 references. Not all legendary figures have been indicated as such in this Index.
