(Ph.D., 1982) is Professor at Cornell University in the Africana Studies and Research Center; Director of the Cornell Institute of African Development (IAD); Distinguished Visiting Professor in the Ali Mazrui Centre for Higher Education Studies at the University of Johannesburg; President of the World Council of Comparative Education Societies (WCCES).
Vikas Baniwal
is Assistant Professor at the Department of Education, University of Delhi. He completed his doctoral studies at the University of Delhi in Education in 2015 and has been a General Fellow for his post-doctoral work at the Indian Council of Philosophical Research (I.C.P.R.) from 2015–2017. He has over 12 years of experience in teaching, higher education, research, and administration. His key research interests include inter-subjectivity, dialogue, inclusion, mental health, self and identity.
Paula Caldas Brognoli
is a master’s student at the Postgraduate Program in Technology and Society (PPGTE) at the Federal Technological University of Paraná (UTFPR), in the Technology and Work research line and postgraduate scholarship holder at the Coordination for the Improvement of Higher Education Personnel (CAPES). is an invited assistant professor at the Lusófona University – University Centre of Porto. Doctor of Education from Lusófona University. Integrated researcher of the Centre for Interdisciplinary Studies in Education and Development (CeiED). Research in the field of pedagogical supervision.
Maria Sara de Lima Dias
holds Post-Doctorate in Psychology from the Autonomous University of Barcelona (2016) as a CAPES Fellow, PhD in Psychology from the Federal University of Santa Catarina (2009), a master’s degree (2004) in Child and Adolescent Psychology and a degree in Psychology from the Federal University of Paraná (1990). Specialist in Social Pedagogy from the Portuguese Catholic University.
Rosa Serradas Duarte
graduated in Physical Education, with a postgraduate degree in Special Education and in Education Law. Master’s Degree in Analysis and Organization of Teaching and a PhD in Sciences de l´Education from the University Lyon2-France Professional path in which work on innovative pedagogical experiences and participation in research projects stands out Teacher at ULHT since 1999 and deputy director of the PhD in Education since 2011. The areas of Educational Policies, Trade Unionism and Teacher Training are the main investigative focus. She won, with 2 other colleagues, a prize in 2020 for the best Innovative Practice under COFAC Fazer+ programme.
Marcos Alexandre dos Santos Ferraz
graduated in Social Communication from the Federal University of Paraná (1994), Master’s in Sociology from the Federal University of Paraná (2000), and doctorate (2004) from the São Paulo University. He was in a postdoctoral internship at Coimbra – Portugal (2013). He is an associate professor in the Education Sector at the Federal University of Paraná. He was Head of the Department of Planning and School Administration and is currently Director of the Education Sector at UFPR. He has experience in the area of Sociology, with an emphasis on Sociology of Work and Unionism, working mainly on the following topics: teacher unionism in basic education, teaching work and educational policy, workers’ movement and sociology of work.
Aida Ferreira
is a doctoral student in Education at CeiED and holds a master’s degree in management of Health Services at ISCTE Business School, University Institute of Lisbon. She is teaching at Lisbon School of Health Technology, Polytechnic University of Lisbon, Portugal continuously since 1993. She holds a Degree in Radiology at the Lisbon School of Health Technology, Polytechnic University, and a Title of specialist in Radiology at the Polytechnic University of Lisbon. In the research field, she integrates the Health & Technology Research Center and has particular interest in exploring the teaching of the future radiography profession and radiography needed competences.
Maria José Broeiro Gonçalves
is a doctoral student at CeiED and holds Master’s degree in Education – Educational Administration and Organization (2009, by FCUL), Master’s degree in the Teaching of Physical Education (2013, by FMH), a degree in School PE and Special PE and Rehabilitation (1987, by ISEF) and a teacher trainer certified by the CCFCP in the areas B01 Educational Administration (2010) and C18 School Sports Practices (2005). Secondary school teacher (1984) with top leadership experience (director of a mega grouping) and intermediate (all positions). Author and coordinator of numerous school and European projects (educational success; indiscipline; citizenship; intergenerational relationship; interdisciplinarity).
Andréa Barbosa Gouveia
graduated in Pedagogy from the Federal University of Paraná (1995), master’s (2002) and doctorate (2008) in Education from the University of São Paulo, Faculty of Education. In 2020, she was in a postdoctoral internship at Arizona State University/Mary Lou Fulton Teachers College/Center for Advanced Studies in Global Education from March to August with a CAPES/PRINT/UFPR scholarship. She is currently a professor at the Federal University of Paraná, where she works at the Nucleus for Research in Educational Policies (NUPE). She is accredited in the Graduate Program in Education at UFPR in the line of research in Educational Policies. She has experience in the area of Education, with an emphasis on Educational Policy, working mainly on issues related to education financing, teacher remuneration, teacher unionism in the field of educational policies.

Alcina Manuela de Oliveira Martins
is an associate professor with aggregation to the Nova University Lisbon. Currently she is Professor at the Lusófona University – University Centre of Porto, Portugal. Director of the Master of Science in Education. Integrated researcher of the Centre for Interdisciplinary Studies in Education and Development (CeiED) and is responsible for its core in Porto. He has participated in several international projects within the CeiED framework. He has conducted research in the field of Science of Education.
Shermila Milroy
is the Director at the “i Group” in Colombo, Sri Lanka. As a Buddhist Activist she founded Prajapathi Buddhist Center in Colombo and the SHE Foundation in Colombo. At the international level, she has served as a Peace Ambassador to Korea, executive committee member of the International Buddhist Confederation in India in 2017, and the Sri Lankan woman representative to Way to Happiness in the USA. In addition, Shermila Milroy is working towards her PhD in Buddhist Philosophy at Jayawardanapura University, Sri Lanka.
Daria Mottareale
is a researcher and full-time Lecturer at the Faculty of Education of the International University of La Rioja (UNIR) (Spain). Member of the research group on Socio-educational and Intercultural Inclusion, Society and Media (SIMI) and the Research Group on Supranational Educational Policies (GIPES) of the Autonomous University of Madrid (UAM). His main research areas are sociology of education, inclusion and digital media. She participates in the Project funded by the Spanish Ministry of Science and Innovation & Teaching Professionalization: discourses, policies and practices and Attitudes, knowledge and strategies towards cultural diversity in initial and continuous teacher training. José António Oliveira
(PhD) is coordinator professor at the Porto Polytechnic Institute, Higher School of Technology and Management, Porto, Portugal. He is an integrated researcher at the Centre for Innovation and Research in Business Sciences and Information Systems (CIICESI) and a collaborative researcher at Centre for Transdisciplinary Studies for Development (CETRAD), University of Trás-os-Montes and Alto Douro. He develops research in the field of Education Sciences (History of Education) and collaborates with several higher education institutions. He is Vice-Director of the Department of Legal and Social Sciences at ESTG/IPP and Coordinator of the Scientific Area of Social Science.
José-Luis Parejo
has a degree in Pedagogy from the University of Salamanca, a Master’s in Participative Research and a PhD in the Theory & History of Education from the Complutense University of Madrid, as valedictorian. He was previously a researcher in the UNESCO Chair in Higher Education at the Polytechnic University of Madrid. He has been a Visiting Professor at the universities of Roma Tre, Ghana and Lisbon. He did his post doctorate with a “José Castillejo” grant from the Spanish Ministry of Science in the IOE-Faculty of Education and Society, at University College London in 2019. He is currently Senior Lecturer at the University of Valladolid. His line of research focuses on global citizenship, service-learning, teacher training, educational innovation, and renewal.

Ilda Poças
is a doctoral student in Education at CeiED, MSc in Special Visual Rehabilitation at Faculty of Motricidade Humana, University of Medical Sciences of Lisbon. She holds a degree in orthoptics, a Complementary Course of Teaching and Administration and the Title of specialist in Orthoptics at Polytechnic University of Lisbon. She is teaching at Lisbon School of Health Technology, Polytechnic University of Lisbon, Portugal, since 1983, Teacher coordinator since 2007 and Head Coordinator of the Orthoptics course between 1993 and 2010. She integrates the Health & Technology Research Center where she is particularly interested in pedagogical theories.
Ricardo Teresa Ribeiro
is MSc in health management systems and PhD in Biomedical Engineering. Professor in Radiography at Lisbon School of Health Technology, Polytechnic University of Lisbon, Portugal. He has 17 years of professional experience combining clinical ultrasound, computer vision and machine learning. He is also a serial entrepreneur. Co-founder and was COO (2015–2017) of PKNOA a machine learning cloud based big data platform that raised €1.8 Million. Currently he is particularly interested in studying data-driven approaches to higher education systems.
Tripti Upadhyay
is a research scholar from Jamia Millia Islamia, pursuing her research in the field of Education. She has completed her Masters in English as well as Education from University of Delhi. Her interest areas include Indian literature, science fiction, mythological studies, comparative education and curriculum studies.
Yusef Waghid
teaches philosophy of Higher Education as a distinguished professor at Stellenbosch University in South Africa. He is a co-author of Towards an Ubuntu University: African higher education reimagined (Palgrave-MacMillan, 2023), and editor of Chronicles on African philosophy of higher education (Brill, 2023).
Linli Zhou
is an Institutional Research Analyst at Lasell University (Newton, MA, USA). She earned her PhD in Social Science and Comparative Education from the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA). Linli conducts institutional effectiveness research in higher education. Her research aims to support comprehensive learning experiences for students from diverse backgrounds. Some of Linli’s recent work involves using quantitative and qualitative research methodology for higher education data analysis, policy impact analysis, and program evaluation.
