Michael (Michelo) DelMonte
was born in The Hague, The Netherlands, but completed his primary and secondary school education in Dublin, Ireland. He attended Trinity College Dublin where he first majored in Genetics and later again in Psychology. He next obtained a Higher Diploma in Education, as well as a research M.Sc. and Ph.D. (1982) from Trinity College on various aspects of meditation and mindfulness. Michael then attended University College Dublin where he obtained an M.Psych.Sc. in Constructivist Psychotherapy. Following these formal studies Michael became increasingly involved in psychoanalysis, including the work of Carl Jung.
Michael, as a psychotherapist and clinical psychologist, is a member of the Irish Forum for Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy, The Irish Constructivist Psychotherapy Association, and Fellow of The Psychological Society of Ireland. He was formerly a member of the British Psychological Society.
For nearly 30 years Michael has conducted individual, couple and group psychotherapy in Saint Patrick’s University Hospital Dublin (linked to Trinity College) where he was Principal Clinical Psychologist. He is currently an Adjunct Associate Professor in the Department of Psychiatry, Trinity College. Michael has published more than 90 articles and chapters in professional journals and books on various aspects of psychotherapy, mindfulness, meditation and evolution.
Michael was co-founder in 1990 of “The Transnational Network for Physical, Psychological and Spiritual Well-Being” in Tokyo. He has been a guest speaker at more than two dozen international symposia and conferences – some of which were linked to his Transnational Network interests.
Last but not least, Michael has many hobbies and interests such as hill-walking, nature, wildlife, music, philosophy, anthropology, physics, art and cosmology. He is married and has three children and five grandchildren.
Maeve Halpin
is a Registered Counselling Psychologist with the Psychological Society of Ireland and founder-manager of the Appletree Health and Wellness Therapy Centre in Ranelagh, Dublin 6. Maeve works in private practice in Dublin, providing counselling services to individuals and couples, as well as individual and group clinical and organisational supervision. She presents the weekly hour-long radio program “Wellbeing for Everyday Life” on Dublin South FM 93.9.
With qualifications both in Counselling, Women’s Studies and Social and Organisational Psychology, Maeve has over 25 years experience in the fields of psychology, adult education and management. With a background in Community and Voluntary Sector management, post-graduate lecturing and research supervision with Trinity College, community-based adult education, counselling and clinical supervision, Maeve brings a broad range of skills and experience to her work. As a counsellor, she integrates knowledge from a spectrum of specialist areas to facilitate clients to explore their challenges and develop new solutions, in a supportive and non-judgemental environment.
