Paulo Castro Seixas
Paulo Castro Seixas is an anthropologist (BA and PhD) and sociologist (master’s degree). He is an associate professor at the Institute of Social and Political Sciences (ISCSP), University of Lisbon, and a researcher at CAPP (Centre of Administration and Public Policy). His main expertise is in urban, territorial and environmental studies and policies in a global context and he has written eight books and edited nine books, while also contributing more than 100 articles/book chapters. He has been a consultant-researcher for organizations (SPA – Portuguese Society of Authors), municipalities (Cascais and Santa Cruz-Madeira) and NGO s (Doctors of the World-Portugal), as well as for governments (Timor-Leste and Angola). Nuno Canas Mendes
Nuno Canas Mendes has a master’s degree and a PhD in International Relations (Asian Studies). He is an associate professor at the Institute of Social and Political Sciences (ISCSP), University of Lisbon, and President of the Instituto do Oriente (Orient Institute). His main research areas of expertise are History of International Relations, Diplomatic Studies, Portuguese Foreign Policy, Southeast Asia regional integration, Nation and State-Building in Timor-Leste. He has published 10 books as author and co-author and more than 50 articles/book chapters. He was guest professor at the Portuguese Institute for Police Sciences and Internal Security (2009–2018) and a visiting professor at the Universidade Federal de Santa Catarina (Brazil), Instituto de Defesa Nacional (Timor-Leste) and Academia das Ciências Sociais e Tecnologia – ACITE (Angola). Nadine Lobner
Nadine Lobner, current FCT doctoral fellow (BD/7467/2020) of Anthropology at Universidade de Lisboa, Institute of Social and Political Sciences, Centre for Public Administration and Public Policies. She holds a BA in Social and Cultural Anthropology from the University of Vienna with a special focus on epistemological violence and bilateral relations. She has a master’s degree in anthropology (University of Lisbon – ISCSP) in an interdisciplinary framework with international relations with a focus on global interrelations through local perspectives. She is a former research fellow of the European H2020 project CRISEA: – ‘Competing Regional Integration of Southeast Asia’, where she focused on Timor-Leste and the regional grouping ASEAN within a geopolitical global-local framework. Kaian Lam
Kaian Lam is trained in political science, social anthropology and foreign languages. She holds an African Studies doctorate and is a research fellow of the Centre for International Studies (CEI-Iscte). Email: cindykilam@outlook.com
Ariel Mota Alves
Ariel Mota Alves has an undergraduate degree at St. Olaf College in Minnesota and a major in political science and economics. He was a graduate degree research fellow in the East-West Center 2020–2022. Currently he is pursuing the master’s degree at the department of political sciences at the University of Hawaii at Mānoa.
