Acknowledgements
I am grateful to Edinburgh Law School for granting me a sabbatical leave in the 2019/2020 academic year. This helped me to complete the work on the manuscript for this book. I am also grateful to my colleagues in Edinburgh Law School – too many to mention, so pardon me if your name is not here. I am particularly grateful to Professors John Cairns, Claudio Michelon, Nehal Bhuta, James Harrison, and Luís Duarte d’Almeida for their encouragement and guidance. I equally appreciate all my colleagues in the ip, Media, & it law subject area in Edinburgh Law School.
I am thankful for the assistance, guidance, and support of a number of senior colleagues whom I have had the honour to meet at academic conferences and other fora. In this regard, I am most grateful to Professors Shubha Ghosh, Peter Yu, Daniel Gervais, Victor Roudometof and Brad Sherman. I should also mention my friends – Dr Folarin Philip, Dr Eghosa Ekhator, and Professor Ebenezer Adodo, thank you so much for everything.
A number of colleagues and friends were of tremendous assistance during the production of this monograph. I would like to thank Dr Adeyemi Olusola, Dr Eghosa Ekhator, and Dr Olufunmilola Olabode, all of whom provided comments on draft chapters. I would also like to thank my former students, Sidhdanai (Thames) Peslapunt, Saraswathy Vaidyanathan, and Zefan Zhu who equally provided comments on draft chapters. I am particularly most grateful to Zenash Ragni Tegegn, a former student and an excellent research assistant, who provided crucial editorial assistance. Zenash read the entire manuscript and provided very useful suggestions. Of course, I am solely responsible for all the errors and mistakes in the book. I am also grateful to Kelley Baylis of Brill for her kind assistance and guidance with the production process of this book.
I cannot thank my family members enough. I am most grateful to my parents, Professor Olubode Oke and Mrs Funmilayo Oke for their help and encouragement over the years. I am also thankful to my siblings, John, Kemi, and Yemisi for tolerating my long years of absence and for all their help and support. Finally, I am sincerely grateful to my lovely wife and best friend, Jacqueline, who has been most supportive of my work and writing – thank you very much.
This book is dedicated to my mum for all her kind support, advice, encouragement, and guidance over the years.
