Óscar Aguilera
is an Associate Professor at the Universidad de Chile. He holds a PhD in Anthropology and is a researcher in the area of Sociology and Information Science of the conicyt system (National Commission of Science and Technology). His field of study includes youth studies, social movements and visual culture. His most recent publications are: “Youth and photography in Chilean youth magazines of the 20th century” (Rill, 2018) and “The student movement in Chile, 2006–2014. An approach from culture and identities” (Nueva Antropología Journal, 2017).
Mittzy Arciniega
holds a PhD in Communication from the Universitat Pompeu Fabra (upf). Her research focuses on media representation of motherhood, gender, youth and media literacy. She is a professor in the Advertising and Public Relations degree, the Master’s Degree of Social Communication and the Inter University Master’s Degree in Youth and Society at upf. She is the Project Manager of the Erasmus + project Sociocultural Learning of Youth in Mobile Societies (slyms) and she is also involved in several national and European research projects of the Youth, Society and Communication Research Group of the upf Communication Department (jovis.com) where she also acts as a coordinator support.
Jorge Benedicto
is Full Professor of Sociology at Universidad Nacional de Educación a Distancia (uned, Spain). He has been a Visitant Researcher at University of Florence (Italy) and L’Observatoire Jeunes et Societé of inrs (Quebec, Canada). He is member of the Network in Youth and Society Studies (Spain) and the Working Group: Youths and Childhoods of clacso. He is specialized in research on youth, citizenship and politics and he has published a number of scientific articles and reports on the subject. He has directed the Report Youth in Spain 2016 published by the Spanish Youth Institute (injuve). He has been consultant of oij and undp-Honduras.

Silvia Elizalde
holds a PhD in Anthropology. She is a Researcher for the Argentine National Scientific and Technical Research Council (conicet), based at the Institute of Gender Studies in the Universidad de Buenos Aires (uba). She is a lecturer at the Universidad Nacional de La Plata (unlp) and also at uba, where she directs the Special Studies Programme for Communication, Gender and Sexuality. She specializes in cultural studies, feminist theory and youth studies. She is the author of different books and scientific articles on the links between class, gender and age in the experience of young women. She is also an activist against inequalities and gender violence within the Argentine scientific field.
Carles Feixa
is full professor of Social Anthropology at the Universitat Pompeu Fabra (upf), in Barcelona. He has specialized in the study of youth cultures, conducting fieldwork research in Catalonia, Mexico and Colombia. He is the author or coauthor of more than 50 books, including De jóvenes, bandas y tribus (Barcelona, 1998, 4th ed. 2012), Jovens na America Latina (Sao Paulo, 2004), and Youth, Space and Time (Boston & Leiden, 2016). He has been a consultant on youth policies for the United Nations and vp for Europe of the research committee “Sociology of Youth” of the International Sociological Association.
Mònica Figueras
holds a PhD in Journalism and a Bachelor’s Degree in Information Sciences and Sociology. She is a senior lecturer at the Department of Communication of the Universitat Pompeu Fabra and the current Co-coordinator of the Official Joint Master’s Degree in Youth and Society. She is also Director of the Audience and Reception Studies section of the ae-ic (Spanish Communication Research Association). Her main research lines are related to Youth and Communication, Ethics of Communication and Media Literacy with a particular focus on Gender Issues. She is coordinator of jovis (Youth, Society and Communication), an interdisciplinary interuniversity research group recognized and funded by the Catalan government. She is Scientific Officer of an official research project, Actifem, about social movements, gender and feminism.
holds a PhD in Sociology and is an Associate Professor at the Department of Sociology and Social Anthropology at Universitat de València (uv). Her lines of research are in sociology of health and illness and in sociology of gender. She is currently translating into Spanish Barbara Risman’s book “Where the Millennial will take us. A New Generation Wrestles with the Gender Structure”. The book addresses, among other topics, gender differences of young Millennials in their relation with work.
Elisa G. de Castro
holds a PhD in Anthropology (National Museum – Universidade Federal do Rio de Janeiro) with the thesis “Between the Rural and the Urban – an ethnography of the rural youth category”, published in 2013. She is an Associate professor at Universidade Federal Rural do Rio de Janeiro since 1998, working in undergraduate courses and the Graduate Program in Social Sciences in Development, Agriculture and Society and Graduate Program in Social Sciences. She was the General Coordinator of Transversal Policies of the National Youth Secretariat, Presidency of the Republic (2011–2015). She has research experience in agrarian issues, youth, rural youth, public policies, gender, social markers, political identity and participation.
Nele Hansen
holds a PhD in Social and Cultural Anthropology from the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona (uab). She is the Project Manager of the erc financed research project transgang. She is a Postdoctoral researcher involved in several national and European research projects of the research group jovis.com (upf, Communication Department), such as chief (Cultural heritage and identities of Europe’s future), Sociocultural Learning of Youth in Mobile Societies (slyms) (upf, in cooperation with the University of Thessaly, Greece) and the research project ajove (upf, funded by the regional government of Catalonia). In her doctoral thesis, she analysed youth worlds of young descendants of Ecuadorian and Dominican families in the metropolitan area of Barcelona, applying mental maps, the guided tour of the neighbourhood and the analysis of personal networks.
Stribor Kuric
holds a PhD in Sociology and Anthropology (2019) at the Universidad Complutense de Madrid and is currently working as a social researcher at the Centro Reina Sofía sobre Adolescencia y Juventud. His research interests include youth studies, sociology of work and sociology of art and culture. He
Daniel Llanos
is a pedagogue and holds an MSc in Social Policy from Universidad Politécnica Salesiana del Ecuador. He also holds a PhD in Social Sciences from Universidad Nacional de Cuyo, Argentina. He is the Director of the Education Area at the Universidad Politécnica Salesiana del Ecuador and a researcher at the Research Center on Childhood, Adolescence and Youth and Member of the Education and Interculturality Research Group (Universidad Politécnica Salesiana del Ecuador). He teaches in undergraduate and graduate programs at the same university and Latin American universities. He is researcher at the clacso “Youth and Childhood” Working Group, with a line of Research on hegemonies, violence, inequalities and mobilizations.
Rafael Merino
is a lecturer at the Department of Sociology at the Universistat Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona (uab), coordinator of the Education and Work research group, coordinator in Spain of the International Study of City Youth, researching young people’s transitions from compulsory school to higher education and careers. He teaches in Social Education Degrees, in the Master’s Degree in Youth and Society and in the Master’s Degree in Secondary Education Teacher Training. He is a member of the Youth and Society Studies Network.
Ana Miranda
is the Academic Director of the Youth Research Program and a professor of Master of Youth Studies at the Facultad Latinoamericana de Ciencias Sociales (flacso), Argentina. She is a researcher at the National Scientific and Technical Research Council (conicet) and a professor at the Universidad de Buenos Aires (uba). Her research and teaching are related to youth, education, inequality and labor. She has written eight books, the most recent is Youth, Inequality & Social Change in the Global South, edited with Hernan Cuervo, of the University of Melbourne by Springer. In July, 2018 she was elected Deputy President of rc 34 of the International Sociology Association (isa).
holds a PhD in Sociology from the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona (uab). She is a Full Professor in Sociology at the Universidad de Valladolid (uba), in Spain. She is a specialist in youth studies, family and gender issues. Her main fields of interest and research are youth transitions, family policies, gender and social policies, parenting and child wellbeing. Her current research activities include studies about young people, family and gender equality in European social policies and child wellbeing. She is currently involved in several national and European projects. She has been a Visiting Researcher at the Universities of Oxford (United Kingdom), McGill (Canada), Göteborg (Sweden), Stirling (United Kingdom), Torino (Italy) and Chicago (USA). She has published numerous articles and books on youth, family and gender issues.
David Muñoz
holds a PhD in Sociology and is an Associate Professor at the Department of Sociology and Social Anthropology at Universitat de València (uv). His research lines cover processes fostering job insecurity, youth, social and political movements, and public policies. Muñoz has published papers on these subjects in journals such as Revista Española de Investigaciones Sociológicas (reis) and Recerca i sociología del trabajo, among others.
Sonia Páez de la Torre
holds a International PhD in Education (2020) from the University of Girona (Spain). Her thesis addresses migration experiences of young people from the Latin American Southern Cone from the perspective of empowerment. She holds a M.S. in Youth and Society (2014, UdG, ub, uab, UdL, upf, url, Spain). She has collaborated on the hebe Research Project (2018–2020) and on the Project piunt (2020–2021). Currently, she is Postdoctoral Researcher on the JOVIS.com (Research Group on Youth and Society) of the Pompeu Fabra University
José Antonio Pérez Islas
holds a PhD in Social Studies from Universidad Autónoma Metropolitana (uam) and a Youth Policies Specialization Degree given by the United Nations (UN). He coordinated the National Youth Surveys of 2000 and 2005 in Mexico, and had different public positions, the last one as Director of the Centre for Research and Youth Studies (ciej) and Director of the Youth Magazine [Revista JovenEs] of the Mexican Institute of Youth (imj). He is currently the Youth Research Seminar (sij) Coordinator and a postgraduate professor at the National School of Social Work (ents). He is a member of the
Juan Carlos Revilla
is a Senior Lecturer in the area of Social Psychology and Vicehead of the Social Anthropology and Social Psychology Department at Universidad Complutense de Madrid (ucm). He has been national coordinator in two 7th Framework Programme Projects (sphere and RESCuE). His main research areas are Youth Studies, Identities and subjectivities, Work and Organization Studies, Social Inequity and Social Violence.
Dolores Rocca
holds a PhD in Social Sciences from Universidad de Buenos Aires (uba) and a degree in Political Science (uba). She is a Researcher at the National Council for Scientific and Technical Research (conicet) and at the Gino Germani Research Institute (iigg-uba), where she is part of the research Group of Studies in Politics and Youth (GePoJu). Her research interests are political activism, youth participation, political identities, electoral campaigns, and qualitative research. She has directed and co-directed research projects financed by the uba (UBACyT) and by the National Agency for Scientific and Technological Promotion (ANPCyT).
Marcela Saa
is an Anthropologist and Master in Image Studies. She is Fondecyt researcher in the area of Sociology and Information Science (2016–2020). Her field of research is located in the study of youth images, corporality and the media industry in Chile. She is currently a PhD candidate in Social and Cultural Anthropology at the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona (uab). Her most recent publications are: “From short hair to tousled hair: genealogy of youth bodies in Chilean illustrated magazines” (Rich Journal, 2018) and “Young Photographed. A historical overview of youth magazines and the uses and intentions of their photographic images” (Rill, 2018).
Antonio Santos
holds a PhD in Sociology and is a Senior Lecturer of the Department of Sociology and Social Anthropology at Universitat de València (uv). Gonzalo A. Saraví
is a researcher at the Center for Research and Graduate Studies in Social Anthropology (ciesas) in Mexico and a member of the National System of Researchers (sni-3). He holds a B.A. in Social Anthropology from the Universidad de Buenos Aires (uba), Argentina and Ph.D. in Sociology from the University of Texas at Austin, USA. Saraví has been a visiting researcher at the Latin American Center (lac) from the University of Oxford, U.K. (2012–2013) and at the Institute for High Social Studies (idaes) from the Universidad Nacional de San Martín (unsam), Argentina (2019–2020). His main areas of interest include youth studies, class inequality, sociology of education, and urban studies in Latin America.
Pere Soler
is a Senior Lecturer in the Department of Pedagogy at the Universitat de Girona (UdG). He is Director of the Joint Master in Youth and Society. He is coordinator of the liberi Research Group on Children, Youth and Community at the Institute of Educational Research at the Universitat de Girona. His teaching and research focuses on social pedagogy through community development, youth policy and youth movements and associations. He has been Principal Investigator in different projects on young people, education, student participation and youth policies, and on the hebe Project Youth Empowerment.
Tanja Strecker
is an associate lecturer at the Department of Geography and Sociology at the Universitat de Lleida (udl), researcher at the genesis Generation and Educational Science Institute, and a member of the jovis.com research group (Youth, Society and Communication). She was one of the technical coordinators of the research project ajove (upf, funded by the regional government of Catalonia). She obtained her PhD with a longitudinal work on social inequality in university education. She has participated in various research projects with external financing on youth from perspectives like gender, migration, labour insertion and social and cultural activism. She was a visiting researcher at the Youth Research Centre of the University of Melbourne (Australia) and at the Universidad Nacional de Córdoba (Argentina).

Mariano Urraco
holds a PhD and a Degree in Sociology from the Universidad Complutense de Madrid (ucm). Besides, he has a Degree in Social and Cultural Anthropology from the Universidad Nacional de Educación a Distancia (uned). He currently teaches Sociology at Universidad a Distancia de Madrid (udima). His main research areas are Sociology of Youth (generational analysis and transitions), Sociology of Work (and its relation with Sociology of Education) and Cultural Studies.
Maritza Urteaga
holds a PhD in Anthropological Sciences from the Universidad Autónoma Metropolitana (uam). She is Research Professor of Postgraduate Studies in Social Anthropology at the National School of Anthropology and History, Mexico and member of the National System of Researchers Level ii and the Cuerpo Académico Consolidado ProDep-enah Contemporary Bio-Social Diversity. She is the Director of the line of research “Young people and contemporary societies”. Her research interests are anthropology of youth, urban anthropology, identity, culture and communication, cultural production, youth and affectivity, social change and cultural mutation focused on the knowledge of a diversity of youth actors.
José Manuel Valenzuela
holds a PhD in Social Sciences with a specialty in Sociology from the Colegio de México and a Master in Regional Development from the Colegio de la Frontera Norte. His work has been pioneering and of great importance for the understanding of sociocultural processes that define the Mexico-United States border and the youth movements in Latin America and the United States, fields in which he is recognized as a leading author. His work in the field of cultural studies is widely recognized internationally. His research has also addressed issues related to culture and national identity, urban sociology, popular culture and in studies on violence and narcoculture.
