Acknowledgements
We would like to acknowledge the work of all our colleagues in ESREA, and especially those belonging to the Life History and Biography Network, in the genus of this book. It is the outcome of a collective quest since 1993 for deeper illumination and understanding of adult learning and educational processes, in diverse contexts. We wish to acknowledge the spirit of collaboration too, across national and language communities, which include the whole of Europe and a wider world. We celebrate the continuing influence of founding fathers and mothers who helped build such a vibrant, sustaining ecology of research, life, and learning; especially Peter Alheit, Agnieszka Bron, Pierre Dominicé, Marianne Horsdal, Barbara Merrill, and Henning Salling Olesen.
