Acknowledgments
The following volume comes from my PhD thesis at Trinity College â Bristol / University of Aberdeen and benefited from the support of many. I would like to thank my wife, Anna, and my three children, Griffith, Bonnie, and Freda for lovingly cheering me on. Your devotion and faith in me have been a gift from God and a constant source of strength. I am also thankful for my parents, Terry and Sandra Henning, who have faithfully supported and encouraged me in this research project. The fellowship of my home assemblies, Curtis Gospel Chapel and Carriage Hill Bible Chapel, have also been inspirational. Moody Theological Seminary and Emmaus Bible College have been an immense help in providing resources. My advisor Professor John Nolland, as well as my secondary advisor Dr. David Turner, deserve many thanks for insightfully and graciously providing feedback and stimulating my thinking. I praise God for you all and consider it an honor to be disciples together on the mission of our Lord and savior, Jesus Christ. To him be the glory.
