Taxonomic Information
The Catalogue includes all available names published to and including 2019 of extant Palaearctic Chrysomeloidea of three families (Vesperidae, Disteniidae and Cerambycidae).
Unavailable names are not included: misspellings, misidentifications, names established as “morpha” or “aberration” or proposed as “variety” or “form” of a subspecies. Names proposed as “variety” or “form” before 1961 are accepted as available, but if “varieties” or “forms” are introduced from one population (one locality), then it is the evidence that the author expressly gave them infrasubspecific rank (Article 45.6.4 of ICZN), and the names are unavailable. Unjustified emendations are available names.
The type species of the genus-group names are given in their original combinations. If the type species is a junior synonym, the valid senior synonym is given in brackets in its original combination.
No synonyms are published for family group names. For species-group taxa names transferred to another genus, the name of the genus of original combination is given in parentheses, following the number of the page of the original publication. The general structure of the list of taxa is the same as in the previous edition by Löbl & Smetana (2010), but several more tribes are accepted: three in Lepturinae (Caraphiini N. Ohbayashi, Lin & Yamasako, 2016, Enoploderini Danilevsky, 1997a and Teledapini Pascoe, 1871), two in Spondylidinae (Nothorhinini Zagaikevich, 1991 and Tetropiini Seidlitz, 1891), two in Cerambycinae (Pelossini Tavakilian, 2013 and Psebiini Lacordaire, 1868), two in Lamiinae (Eunidiini Teocchi, Sudre & Jiroux, 2010 and Exocentrini Pascoe, 1864). The tribes Enoploderini and Oxymirini were proposed by Danilevsky (1997a) without descriptions, but with references to larval characters described by Švácha (1989). The name Rosaliini Fairmaire, 1864: 137 is replaced with older name Compsocerini Thomson, 1864: 260.
Two pages could be indicated for names published in bilingual editions, or for names introduced as new twice in the original publications (including identification key).
Some authors published the same description twice, or even more times, in separate papers. The first publication in such cases followed by the mark = , the year and first page of the subsequent description/s in square brackets.
The results of taxonomy innovations published after 2010 or omitted for other reasons in the version by Löbl & Smetana (2010) are usually assigned a number after the symbol #, which corresponds with the remark in the chapter “Remarks”. Taxonomy updates are published in “New nomenclatural, taxonomic and geographical acts, and comments”.
The version by Löbl & Smetana (2010) did not contain the information of the species names (no author’s name, no date of publication), if the nominative subspecies was absent in Palaearctic Region. Here the names of the nominative subspecies not represented in Palaearctic Region are shown in square brackets.
Several symbols are used after the taxa name in square brackets if necessary: HN – homonym, RN – replacement name, NO – nomina oblita, NP
Taxa considered incertae sedis are listed separately at the end of the nearest applicable taxon.
Petr Viktora proposed several important taxonomy novations in Clytini (see “New Acts and Comments”).
