Acknowledgments
To Andreea Ritivoi, who encouraged me to take on the project of my philosophical autobiography, I express my gratitude. Andreea is currently Professor and Head of the Department of English at Carnegie Mellon University. Her research interests include rhetorical theory and Continental philosophy, narrative and identity, exile and transnationalism, Eastern European societies, and controversy. She teaches courses on contemporary rhetorical theory, argument, research methods, international communication, and narrative theory. She has witnessed my activities in my three lives—philosophy, music, and art—as well as heard my reflections about their interactions. We launched the present project in August 2011, when we recorded our initial interview.
In addition to Andreea’s invaluable contribution to this volume, I have been most fortunate to have been guided and encouraged by many others throughout my personal and professional development. Foremost, these include my parents, Laszlo and Susan Krausz, my brother Peter, and my darling wife, artist Constance Costigan, who is an unflagging source of support and inspiration to me. Others include:
