Abstract

In this contribution, I discuss Veza Canettiâs literary production during her exile. This creative author began to publish in the thirties, and very soon became a respected figure among the intellectual circles of Vienna. Nevertheless, with the advent of National Socialism, her exile and the challenges of the postwar period, her literary production was forgotten and many of her texts remained unpublished.â©This article offers a detailed analysis of the short story âToogoods oder das Lichtâ, written during her exile, and it will examine to what extent exile transformed and widened the poetical scope of the author. âToogoods oder das Lichtâ is a remarkable story in which the reader and the critic can find condensed the most relevant aspects of Vezaâs poetics.â©
